Manchester Airport Buys Stansted Airport

London’s Stansted Airport has been bought by the owner of Manchester Airport for £1.5bn. Formerly owned by Heathrow Airport Holdings, Stansted had to be sold as a result of a ruling by the Competition Commission. The sale is not expected to have any immediate effects on the day to day running of either airport, and is due to be 100% completed later this month. Indeed, anyone turning up at the Stansted or Manchester airport car park (https://www.aph.com/parking/manchester_airport/) will notice little difference to begin with. Heathrow Airport Holdings chief executive Colin Matthews said about the deal:

“Stansted Airport and its people have been part of our company for a long time. We wish the new owners every success and are confident the airport will continue to flourish. We will continue to focus on improving Heathrow, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton airports.”

Manchester is one of the most well known cities in the UK, and there are many different reasons why people fly in and out of the city. There is plenty of cheap airport parking on offer which makes it attractive to business people who work on an international basis. However, their neighbours Manchester City won the league title last year and are threatening MUFC’s position at the top of the English game. This season is proving to be as exciting as ever and there is no doubt that it will end with a close finish once again.

Many people living in the north of England fly out from Manchester to go on their holidays. With flights available to all over the world, there is a wealth of choice on offer when it comes to choosing where to go on vacation. Whilst Manchester has a bit of a reputation for rainy weather conditions, there can be no surprise that so many people seek a bit of sunshine relief on their holidays. Airport parking could reduce tube crowding

According to a recent report, around one billion journeys are made on the London Underground transport system every year. London Underground, also known as the Tube, is a major part of the capital’s infrastructure for people travelling for both work and leisure purposes. However, recent increases in the number of people travelling on the tube are putting extra strain on the transport network. One of the reasons for this pressure is that a number of people use the tube to get to London Heathrow airport.

Take the pressure off

Heathrow airport is one of the busiest in the world, with around 69 million travellers passing through it every year; this naturally increases the passenger load on the Tube. One way to combat this extra load on the tube is for travellers to consider driving to and parking at Heathrow airport. Parking at Heathrow Airport could mean that travellers ease pressure on London’s transport network, as well as easing the pressure on their own journey by making it more enjoyable and less stressful.

Cheap airport car parking

In the current economic climate, people are budgeting and looking to save money in every aspect of their lives; travel being an area where big savings can be made. Taking public transport to the airport can seem like a good idea at the time but when you factor in the stress of getting to the station, the crowded train, the potential for delays and cancellations and the price of train tickets, it may be a much better idea to drive to the airport in comfort and park up, ensuring that you have booked cheap airport car parking in advance.

Depending on the kind of service you are looking for from your airport car parking, this can be an extremely cost-effective way to start your holiday. Parking services at most UK airports range from the most basic ‘park and go’ solutions, right through to luxury valet-style meet and greet services. Many packages even include hotel stopovers to bracket your flight.

Park up all around the UK

As well as easing pressure on the transport networks of the capital, there are plenty of other airports around the UK that benefit from secure, on-site parking. This includes Birmingham airport, Stansted airport and Manchester airport. Parking, valet ‘meet and greet’ services and park and stay packages are becoming increasingly popular for people who want the convenience of being able to drive to the airport but who still want the peace of mind that their vehicle is safe whilst they are away.

One of the top tips for a stress-free journey to the airport is to arrange your airport car parking in advance and to plan your journey to the airport to ensure that you arrive in plenty of time. This is often difficult to do when it comes to using the Tube, as with overcrowding, you might have to wait for a couple of trains to pass before you can get on board with your luggage. With careful consideration and planning, airport parking could be the solution to your Tube travel woes.

Parking Options at Heathrow Airport

With five terminals and a strategically unbeatable location, it is no surprise that Heathrow airport is one of the world’s busiest airports. Indeed, thousands of holidaymakers, tourists and business travellers start and end their journeys at this colossal international travel hub every single day.

Naturally, Heathrow has provisions in place to accommodate such large passenger numbers arriving and leaving the airport. To be sure, the airport has extensive public transport links which include three Underground stations, a train station, and a comprehensive bus and coach station. In addition, Heathrow also has a plethora of car park options available for passengers who prefer not to use public transport.

However, the fact that Heathrow is always so busy means that the airport car parks are always in great demand; therefore parking options get booked up fast.

So, if you will be catching a flight from Heathrow in the near future and are anticipating taking your car, you may well find it beneficial to book an airport parking space as far in advance as you can. This will not only help you to keep costs down; it will also ensure you avoid the disappointment of missing out on a space altogether.

Of course, there is a wide range of parking options available in and around the Heathrow area. You can choose to park your car on site at an airport run car park (these are within the airport’s grounds and are amongst the most convenient solutions available in terms of proximity to the terminal buildings); or, you can choose to leave your car at an off-site car park that is usually a short distance away from the airport. If you choose this option then you will simply need to take a shuttle bus along with your luggage from the car park to the terminal you are flying from. Off-site Heathrow parking is often the most cost-effective option as the fact it is not within the airport’s boundaries means that operators not have to pay a premium; therefore they can offer rates that are more competitive than on-site parking facilities.

As well as, standard on-site and off-site car parks, there are also other slightly more decadent vehicle-based options available. For example, if you are travelling on business or want to impress a colleague or guest then you might like opt for chauffeur services instead of driving yourself. These services will pick you up from your door and drive you straight to the airport so you won’t even need to worry about parking at all. Naturally, such services are more expensive than standard car parking options; however; they certainly can be useful on occasions that call for a little VIP treatment!

Of course, many other airports around the country also offer a range parking solutions to accommodate their passenger demands. Indeed, passengers flying from busy regional airports such as Stansted, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Glasgow, East Midlands and Gatwick can expect to find the same parking options and services that are available at Heathrow (http://www.uk-airport-car-parking.co.uk/heathrow_parking.htm).

Greece remains popular holiday destination among Brits

People who make use of car parking at Heathrow Airport have no shortage of options in terms of where they fly to. One of the countries that has long been popular among UK holidaymakers is Greece and it seems that the economic woes affecting the nation are failing to put consumers off travelling there.

According to foreign exchange company Travelex, bookings for all-inclusive packages in the country were up by a third during the last two weeks of May. Many of those flying to this holiday destination will utilise Heathrow airport parking.

Greece Holidays
Greece

Travelex suggested that as many as four million Britons could head to Greece this summer, which is double the average number. Many of the people it polled had deliberately booked vacations to this part of the world because of the strengthening of the pound against the euro.

Meanwhile, some of the packages available cost up to 60 per cent less than usual, so it is perhaps no surprise that many of those who use car parking at Heathrow Airport and elsewhere are tempted by trips to Greece.

Commenting on the issue, the firm’s Elvin Eldic said: “It looks like when it comes to summer holidays, Brits are more concerned about bagging a bargain than whether or not Greece gets another bailout.

“We’d urge Brits to not only take a mixture of cash and a prepaid card but also to take the time to check the terms and conditions of their travel insurance when booking a holiday or travelling to Greece.”

As well as seeking deals, many of those who use Heathrow airport parking during their adventures to Greece may be looking for sunny and warm weather. The country benefits from a largely hot and dry summer. This can be markedly different from conditions in the UK, which are often cool and rainy.
