Manchester Airport Buys Stansted Airport

London’s Stansted Airport has been bought by the owner of Manchester Airport for £1.5bn. Formerly owned by Heathrow Airport Holdings, Stansted had to be sold as a result of a ruling by the Competition Commission. The sale is not expected to have any immediate effects on the day to day running of either airport, and is due to be 100% completed later this month. Indeed, anyone turning up at the Stansted or Manchester airport car park (https://www.aph.com/parking/manchester_airport/) will notice little difference to begin with. Heathrow Airport Holdings chief executive Colin Matthews said about the deal:

“Stansted Airport and its people have been part of our company for a long time. We wish the new owners every success and are confident the airport will continue to flourish. We will continue to focus on improving Heathrow, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton airports.”

Manchester Airport is the third busiest in the UK, and over 18.9 million passengers are believed to have used its terminals during 2011. There is no doubt that Stansted will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the Manchester Airports Group which runs Manchester airport. Manchester is one of the most well known cities in the UK, and there are many different reasons why people fly in and out of the city. There is plenty of cheap airport parking on offer which makes it attractive to business people who work on an international basis. Indeed, the parking at Manchester airport is considered to be amongst some of the best airport cark parks in the country.

Manchester is home to one of the biggest football clubs in the world, and regularly welcomes fans through the airport who are going to watch their team compete against the famous Manchester United Football Club (MUFC). MUFC have a long history and have millions of fans all across the globe. The team has enjoyed unprecedented success in the past 20 years with their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm. However, their neighbours Manchester City won the league title last year and are threatening MUFC’s position at the top of the English game. This season is proving to be as exciting as ever and there is no doubt that it will end with a close finish once again.

Many people living in the north of England fly out from Manchester to go on their holidays. With flights available to all over the world, there is a wealth of choice on offer when it comes to choosing where to go on vacation. Whilst Manchester has a bit of a reputation for rainy weather conditions, there can be no surprise that so many people seek a bit of sunshine relief on their holidays. However, Manchester has many attractions as a city. It has produced some of the most exciting and well known musicians and bands on the planet, and is well known for its unique brand of northern soul. Stansted airport should be in safe hands with the managers of Manchester airport taking over their business and operations.

Airport parking could reduce tube crowding

According to a recent report, around one billion journeys are made on the London Underground transport system every year. London Underground, also known as the Tube, is a major part of the capital’s infrastructure for people travelling for both work and leisure purposes. However, recent increases in the number of people travelling on the tube are putting extra strain on the transport network. One of the reasons for this pressure is that a number of people use the tube to get to London Heathrow airport.

Heathrow Airport

Take the pressure off

Heathrow airport is one of the busiest in the world, with around 69 million travellers passing through it every year; this naturally increases the passenger load on the Tube. One way to combat this extra load on the tube is for travellers to consider driving to and parking at Heathrow airport. Parking at Heathrow Airport could mean that travellers ease pressure on London’s transport network, as well as easing the pressure on their own journey by making it more enjoyable and less stressful.

Cheap airport car parking

In the current economic climate, people are budgeting and looking to save money in every aspect of their lives; travel being an area where big savings can be made. Taking public transport to the airport can seem like a good idea at the time but when you factor in the stress of getting to the station, the crowded train, the potential for delays and cancellations and the price of train tickets, it may be a much better idea to drive to the airport in comfort and park up, ensuring that you have booked cheap airport car parking in advance.

Depending on the kind of service you are looking for from your airport car parking, this can be an extremely cost-effective way to start your holiday. Parking services at most UK airports range from the most basic ‘park and go’ solutions, right through to luxury valet-style meet and greet services. Many packages even include hotel stopovers to bracket your flight.

Park up all around the UK

As well as easing pressure on the transport networks of the capital, there are plenty of other airports around the UK that benefit from secure, on-site parking. This includes Birmingham airport, Stansted airport and Manchester airport. Parking, valet ‘meet and greet’ services and park and stay packages are becoming increasingly popular for people who want the convenience of being able to drive to the airport but who still want the peace of mind that their vehicle is safe whilst they are away.

One of the top tips for a stress-free journey to the airport is to arrange your airport car parking in advance and to plan your journey to the airport to ensure that you arrive in plenty of time. This is often difficult to do when it comes to using the Tube, as with overcrowding, you might have to wait for a couple of trains to pass before you can get on board with your luggage. With careful consideration and planning, airport parking could be the solution to your Tube travel woes.

The Push Continues For A Second Runway At Gatwick Airport

The site that Gatwick airport now occupies used to be a base used by the Royal Air Force during World War Two, but since then it has grown in size and significance. Currently, Gatwick airport is the UK’s second largest airport and the seventh busiest international airport in the world. While these statistics may seem mildly impressive for an airport located near the capital city in one of the world’s most developed countries, it is worth noting that Gatwick airport has only one runway, which in turn makes it the busiest single runway in the entire world. Operating one runway has been seen by some as a cause for concern, calling for expansion to keep up with demand and tourism. However there are those that rally against this cause, claiming that it will harm the surrounding areas.

The Fight For Change

The plans for changes to Gatwick airport are currently being gathered, but they will not be able to be implemented until 2019 as the site is currently under obligation not to expand. With plans to make the airport changes both ‘affordable and practical’, the site wants to rival Heathrow, the larger London based rival.

Seeing as there are a plethora of airports in the surrounding area and the fact that Gatwick is fully equipped with great airport parking to meet its demand, why are there calls for controversial change and what are the protesters concerned about?

Part of the concern lies with the fact that building another runway would lead to the need of a third terminal. Currently the airport has a North and South Terminal, the latter of which is integrated with the rail system. The land set aside for the expansive building work, which would have to make room for the new runway and third terminal, currently contains some residential houses as well as seventeen listed buildings. While this is a small figure compared to the large amount of houses at risk over the expansion of Heathrow, there is also an environmental concern. Surrounding areas will have to be tested for noise pollution, the airport does not want to have to impose a curfew on surrounding residents.

London officials are also wary of change. While acknowledging the fact that London has to connect with the rest of the world in the best way possible, it seems that many want one central hub with plenty of connections, rather than scattering the focus too thinly. Given the density of the south-east population, though, expanding an airport is always going to be met with opposition.

For tourists, the airport is always a favourite. Car parking at Gatwick is easy and convenient, as those using a Gatwick airport car park can leave their vehicle at reception, and arrange for it to be dropped off on their return. Manual parking is also available.

Why You Should Book Your Airport Hotels Through A Travel Agent

Choosing accommodation for you holiday can be a daunting experience. With a large amount of family members, or even just a couple in search of a romantic getaway, finding the balance between all parties can be a very trying process. With various costs and scheduling arrangements though this factor, fun, is often overlooked. It is not just hotels upon arrival that can prove troublesome to organise, staying over in a convenient location before departure can be difficult too. With airport hotels part of the travel arrangements on offer through agents though, the process can be streamlined to make your vacation easier and more enjoyable.

Get What You Expect

How many times have you come across something that just does not live up to your expectations? Perhaps you went to view a house and the ‘large bedroom’ advertised was little more than a storage cupboard? While this is a common problem, it has not exactly been helped by the internet. Thanks to online reviews of independent and franchise hotels, getting a picture of what is good and what is not is harder than ever. Booking into a substandard hotel could get your holiday off to a bad start and influence the rest of your time off.

Online reviews have driven up the need for high standards of customer service when it comes to hotel staff. No longer is the size of the room or the thickness of the walls the only cause for concern. Everything from the way you are served upon check in, to the neatness of the sheets, can be criticised for the whole world to hear. The problem is furthered given reports that some companies have been found trying to sabotage rivals by posting poor reviews on websites while praising their own very highly. Cutting through all of this competitiveness is easy though, book through a travel agent you can trust.

With a hotel situated near car parking at Gatwick, as well as an array of country wide airport hotel facilities, booking online with a leading travel agent and airport car park specialist means that you will be provided with a high standard of service. With staff that know how important it is to be attentive, and hotels that maintain a high level of quality, you can start your holiday as you mean to go on, by enjoying yourself completely.

So if you are looking for great accommodation and useful facilities, book online early for cheap deals that can get your holiday off to a great start.

From choosing the destination, to picking a hotel and organising the flights, there is a similar amount of forethought. Seeing as a holiday is meant to provide relaxation, take the strain off yourself by making the most of package deals that incorporate hotels and airport car park ranges.

Break Tradition and Spend Christmas Abroad

As winter approaches it can only mean one thing, Christmas is nearly here. It either comes too fast or seems too far away, but Christmas is a great opportunity for the family to get together and celebrate. However, more and more people are breaking from tradition and going away for the festive period. Perhaps it is because the summers in the United Kingdom do not provide great weather for the family holiday, or maybe people just went to get away from it all. Whatever the reason, with cheap airport car parking, travelling abroad for Christmas is easy and affordable.

Where To Go?

When choosing where you want to go for Christmas, there are many innovative opportunities (Exotic places to spend Christmas, http://blog.aph.com/exotic-places-to-spend-christmas/). For example, you can make the most of the winter conditions and travel to the northern regions for a truly white Christmas. Indeed, given that snow is something of a rarity in the United Kingdom, those in search of the picture postcard white Christmas would do well to travel to Sweden or Norway. What could be nicer than spending Christmas morning in a log cabin, the fire roaring by your presents?

However, spending Christmas abroad could also mean you can enjoy hotter weather. Sick of a mediocre summer with a handful of days of sunshine? You could get your summer vacation during the festive period, rolling all of your holidays into one. Travelling to the southern hemisphere provides all sorts of temperate alternatives to a Christmas morning shivering in the cold. While it may seem fitting to spend Christmas all wrapped up in layers of jumpers from various relatives given to you as stocking fillers, why not pull crackers on the beach and trade in your mince pies for a barbecue? In fact, it is a common occurrence for people to swim in the sea on Christmas day in aid of charitable causes, but why not swap cold water for a refreshing surf just the once?

Christmas Tourism

The Christmas tourism trade is booming, with many holiday companies offering special deals for the festive season. So whether you want to take in some sights or just have a change of scenery for Santa, a Christmas abroad could give you an alternative vacation to remember.

Airport car park agents are at hand to give you savings when you need them most, too. Given that Christmas is one of the most financially demanding times of the year, booking early could entitle you to some amazing discounts. With facilities all over the country, you could take advantage of Birmingham airport parking, or enjoy an affordable holiday by parking at Southampton port.

With valet services that ease the stress during one of the most frantic times of the year, you can breeze through customs secure in the knowledge that your car will be looked after safely. This will leave you free to soak up the sun and spend some quality Christmas time with your family.
